Let’s Wrap Elaine in Love!
Steve and Elaine Upshur first met at a prayer meeting in 1975 and were united in marriage on December 13, 1977. Together they raised four adult children—Jeremiah, Daniel, Jonathan, and Joy. From the earliest days of their shared calling, Elaine stood faithfully beside her husband as a devoted wife, mother, and partner in ministry.
For many years she served as a quiet strength and essential support to the work of Peacemakers International. Whether handling financial matters, administrative duties, or the countless day-to-day needs that arise in ministry, Elaine was a steady backbone to the organization and a blessing to all who worked alongside her.
In time, Elaine began to experience cognitive impairment. As the challenges grew, she graciously and formally entrusted her administrative responsibilities to her eldest son, Jeremiah, in 2020. This August, Elaine faced the profound loss of her husband and devoted caregiver, Pastor Steve Upshur. With power of attorney, Jeremiah is now carefully managing his mother’s affairs. Every gift given to the Elaine Upshur Fund will go directly toward
her ongoing comfort, support, and daily provisions—an expression of the same love and faithfulness she so freely poured out to others.
Scripture reminds us in 1 Timothy 5:3 to “Honor widows that are widows indeed.” Countless lives have been touched and transformed through the ministry of Pastor Steve and his wife Elaine. Now we have the privilege of responding with love and practical care for this remarkable woman of God who has walked so faithfully through both service and sorrow.
